The concept of solidarity has defined the work of the United Nations since the birth of the Organization. It relies on the collective solidarity of its members to unite with a common goal of maintaining international peace, and proclaimed December 20th of each year International Human Solidarity Day: to celebrate our unity in diversity, to remind governments to respect their commitments to international agreements, to raise public awareness, to encourage debate on the ways to promote solidarity for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, and to encourage new initiatives.

To mark the International Human Solidarity Day, we were commissioned to collaborate on the prestigious United Nation’s "Words of Unity" campaign. Love is love - everywhere around the world, as the human root of solidarity, in all languages. These typographic pieces spells “love” and “unity” jointly in English and in Arabic, merging into a single visual symbolising harmony between humans & nations. The beautiful traditional Arabic characters were created in collaboration with calligraphy artist Ruh Al-Alam with a contemporary twist, which we brought to life as a dimensional interlacing piece.
