For the special concert highlighting the 25th anniversary of psychedelia band ‘The String Cheese Incident’, we were invited to create the artwork for the show. These guys have a steep cult following on their posters, so the team wanted the piece to look happy, wild & funky – in line with their general spirit & sound.

It struck the inspiration to create a modern & dimensional take on their LSD-like aesthetic. We designed this colourful trippy gravity-defying composition with the idea of crazy strings as a perpetual rolling arrangement, surrounded by abstract shapes & floating fluids, forming a dynamic visual entity. Mixing an acid palette, pastels & plenty of movement, we inverted overlapping segments to bring in some dimensional weirdness & integrated ultra-bright white features as a nod to the cheese side of things, with the whole thing against a black background to really make the colours sing. We complemented the visual with jazzy lettering & fun typesetting, marrying the treatment with some bubbly fonts, interacting with the composition.
